create post items for each uploaded file in the cloud

I want post items for each uploaded file in the channel cloud in my personal wall. Similar to posts for each event in the events app. I want one solution for tagging my uploaded files. I intend try develop a hack "Create posts for uploaded files". In which files is implement the function "posts for each event in the events app"?

There is already code to generate posts for file uploads; but there is also code to prevent them from being shown in the stream, which may be difficult to over-ride. These items are used to generate a page of "files shared with me" information.

The event posting stuff is in include/event.php and the file activities are generated in include/attach.php. They are blocked from being shown in a number of places.

What is the concept for "prevent them from being shown in the stream"? Can you give me example for such code?

"likes" are post items that we normally don't show (as comments) in the stream. We process them separately and provide summaries of the like activities. Photo items are hidden unless you choose to share them, but they exist for every photo. Wiki pages and web pages and layouts and cards are all post items that we normally don't show in the stream. We do the same for file activities.

@Mike Macgirvin: Is it correct, that's enough for the visibility for file posts (file activities) on my specific (hacked) channell wall in the database corresponding visibility flag uniquely to change? Or manage you the visibility property for post items permanent in programmcode?

It started as only a visibility flag, but it became rather intricately embedded in the code a few days ago, and we're now hiding this particular type of item by type (FILE_ACTIVITY). It is possible to undo, but if you really want this feature and are willing to code it, you should look through the code and figure out what's involved. Changing the way this works in dev may have undesired side effects that will need a solution (the recent change was because if you publish 100 or more files at a time the fact that they weren't visible could end up preventing your stream from paging more items). So we had to hide them at an even lower level based on activity type rather than just based on a visibility flag.

The main reason why file activities are not send by default is spaming and the fact that uploading 300+ small files (icons, textfiles, etc.) at once would probably kill most servers (at least it does so with mine).
The code to do this is already there but commented out...

I understand. Perfect was, when hubzilla offer one checkbox "Create post" - s. dummy screenshot.
I intend create tagged posts only for me, for my personal (privacy) wall. So that I can quickly find uploaded files with my tags. Or maybe exist other hubzilla feature for such purpose? Slack-Feature also
