https://lastauth.com is always slaw, very slow. I think it is a pity, because @Seth Martin hosted many interesting Channels.

German Version: Meine Erfahrung ist, dass Kanäle auf https://lastauth.com grundsätzlich langsam sind. Schade eigentlich. Da bei https://lastauth.com viele interessante Hubzillaner unterwegs sind. Die dann nur mit erheblicher Verzögerung, es dauert gefühlt ewig - nach einem Klick zu erreichen sind :-|.

I am really new on #hubzilla and I joined lastauth.com. I am finding it very slow and that makes me want to stop using hubzilla. Is there a better choice?

I'm wondering if this could be a federation issue @Seth Martin ? Personally I haven't found lastauth.com very slow but I've got good internet and a decent computer. Another thing though is that I've gotten the "Apologies site is unreachable at the moment, please try again later" a bit more often than seems normal - but then again this might afaik just be normal maintenance + time difference from Europe.

If you find lastauth.com too slow @Sergei G atm, I suggest you clone your channel to another site until the problem is solved. I am sure Seth is doing everything he can to fix it.

To make a clone, you go to another hubzilla site and register, but during the account setup you choose to clone rather than create a new account/channel.

Lastauth.com is indeed very slow at times and it cannot be fixed without reinstalling the entire server. I must move the hub to a new server. The problem lies in the way RAID1 was set up with Xen hypervisor for virtualization. I am unable to dedicate CPU cores for the host machine after one drive failed.

I was forced to choose between keeping lastauth.com running and friendica.libertypod.com running because neither will function when both virtual machines are running. I will eventually fix these but far more important things are taking all of my time right now.

I haven't noticed but this problem may affect federation with diaspora during the slow times because the DB is not accessible at those times. Hubs still get redelivery attempts so there should be no issues there.

Thank you for the offer @tobias. It looks like we surprisingly have some more jobsite delays and I'll be able to fix it quickly. If you all notice the website being completely down sometime soon, that's probably why.

I moved the hub but so far am having no luck tuning MariaDB for this DB. When I return, my next step will be converting all the tables to innodb. The tables are currently mixed types and I don't even know how it got that way.

I may have failed to mention that it's all fixed up now. Blazing fast and bleeding edge. I even revived Friendica.LibertyPod.com on the same machine.

I'm sorry that it took me a whole week to get it all sorted out. It inconvenienced me greatly and I'm sure it did others too.

How does this system work at the technical level? Does it load all channels from other servers?

What does your server load from other servers?

It seems like an impossible task to load everything when scalability is concerned.
