The help pages

contains not only texts in different languages. The content of [1] and [2] is also different. Is it intended, those URL /address design for [1] and [2] to offert? I suggest one consistent URL/ address syntax for help and other Hubzilla pages to design and to apply. S. also subject: serverside delievery of appropriate language-sensitive pageversion worsened searchengine ranking .

In my opinion, is it usefull, when Hubzilla user can for the Hubzilla help the external searchengines of its choice to apply.

'help/features' is available in three languages depending on your browser settings. You probably ended up with the 'de' version. It's also available in 'ca' as well as English. This is exactly what I meant w/r/t webpages - today I provided the ability for webpages and wikis to also provide translations - not just help pages. We have different capitalisation conventions because a lot of stuff was migrated from the old Redmatrix github wiki and we kept the capitalisation rules of those files so that we could push them back if we updated them. If we changed the name we couldn't push them back to github wiki pages. We also ran into issue that most of the original documentation was written in markdown, but many contributors preferred bbcode because you could add [baseurl] links. I personally think documentation should be markdown, but I'm not in charge here. You (collectively) are.

We don't have to worry about the github wiki sync any more - we're not using it. So it makes sense to consolidate the help pages. Andrew has done a lot to make this happen. (Big thanks Andrew!). It's probably more important to provide translations for the pages he already consolidated, and then work on organising the content which isn't referenced in those pages. So yes, I agree that this needs cleanup. You are welcome to help clean it up. But be aware that we provide the ability to translate each of these pages and have done so for several years.

Most of the #doco issues are my fault. I spent a lot of time improving the content, organization and presentation of the help pages, but I didn't completely remove the existing pages, which are still reachable and sometimes confusing as you discovered. The biggest problem right now is that the doco search does not work well. It's been months and no one else has volunteered to continue this doco improvement project. Maybe I'll get motivated to keep working on it at some point.

doco (pronounced dock'oh) documentary. Aussie Taryn East tells me that this is also business slang for documentation.

I think, that it is favourable the activities in Hubzilla help project useful to organise - job sharing also. I mean for example, that @tobias planned one Comanche for beginners manual to publish. Summer session of the international conference of free/libre open source software developers and users, the Linux Vacation / Eastern Europe, will be held on June 22-25, 2017. The event combines both communication and rest of the enthusiasts of free software, including GNU/Linux platform, but not limited to it.

IMHO it is useful our activities efficient to organise.

My idea is, that the content of Hubzilla intro help are tagged with tags #HubzillaGuest #HubzillaBeginner #HubzillaUser #HubzillaExpert #HubzillaAdmin. Whereby tags #HubzillaGuest #HubzillaBeginner etc. are simultaneous also user roles in Hubzilla profil and each role get a appropriate help content .

In any case, Gustav you are discussing a lot of topics here. Mike answered your question about why there are two separate "features" pages with different content: the doco is filled with historical pieces that have not been completely organized.

In order to contribute something useful, I encourage you to step back and ask yourself why you want to spend time working on this particular component of Hubzilla. Is your goal to help people who are already using Hubzilla and you want to make the doco more accessible or useful to them? Or is your goal to improve the language translations for non-English speakers? Or is your goal to introduce Hubzilla to new people and encourage them to use the software? Or do you just really enjoy learning about Hubzilla and imagining the endless possibilities Hubzilla could support?

Your ideas about the "Hubzilla mobile agent" are interesting, and you've clearly put a lot of thought into it, and that's great. It is highly likely that if you want to make any of it reality, however, that you will have to do all the work yourself or bring new developers to the Hubzilla community who wish to work on it with you (which would be excellent). Personally speaking, any work I do related to the Hubzilla doco/help system will involve the simpler but higher impact task of continuing to organize and refine the content. I can't speak for other people, but based on my knowledge of the Hubzilla community, there will probably not be anyone else who will volunteer to write code with you. I'm not discouraging you; I'm just being realistic. A few of us will be here to help you answer specific technical questions as you dive into the code and start trying to build things you are describing.

I can't speak for other people, but based on my knowledge of the Hubzilla community, there will probably not be anyone else who will volunteer to write code with you.

Some considerations to that:

when I and other user the Hubzilla RC's test and write I bugreports, is it not for me, but for me and also for Hubzilla community. I mean debugging is also one job, wich not little important is by comparsion with programmer job . Hubzilla community can a lot more achieve, when potential synergies will be systematically to identify and consistent to use
I am interesting on constructive feedback to my ideas and on solution approaches to realize my ideas.
